The Accessibility Project

North Puget Sound (Snohomish County and points north) has a growing population of older residents and persons with disabilities. As community, civic, and legislative engagement continues to grow in these areas, the vast majority are held as in-person-only events and not easily accessible to these populations. As a newly formed nonprofit and community based organizations hub, Northwest WA Civic Circle (NWCC) is seeking funding to create a two-part project to address this need:

Accessible Hosting Spaces

We are partnering with two community venues in North Puget Sound where we can host these types of events in a hybrid setting using ASL, captioning, and video technology. With the help of volunteers who are experts in broadcasting and tech, NWCC would supply the accessibilty and tech necessary to add or update what already exists in those spaces.

Accessibility Travel Kit

With the help of volunteers who are professionals in broadcasting and event/tech services, we will build a travel kit that will be used and operated by NWCC at community, civic, and legislative events that will be livestreamed and/or recorded in real time and made available online free of charge. These recordings and activities will be made available across NWCC’s social media platforms as well as on our website. We are also entering into partnerships with local media outlets, digital and print, to carry these programs as well.
